Inukshuks (pronounced "in-uk-shooks") rise from the landscape in many unexpected places, always in human form. Solid guardians, the Inukshuk keeps the vigil to direct the lonely traveler or fisherman along the best and safest passages, land or water.
To build an Inukshuk you must find the perfect balance for each rock. No one rock is more important than another, and each creation is unique. Inukshuks found in natural settings are created from rock gathered in the immediate area and reflect the characteristics of the surrounding land forms. Legend tells us that having an Inukshuk near camp will keep us safe and in the good graces of Mother Nature. See the photos above of our own Shining Falls Inukshuk, Joy. She stands tall and proud at the entrance to our quiet Family Lake bay, guiding you back to your cabin come rain or shine.
Maybe Joy has a connection with the fishing gods...
